08/07/21 THE OLD MAN IS AN ATTITUDE, NOT A PERSON

Your, "Old Man" is not a man, it is not a person. The term, Old Man refers to the Adamic nature, the inherent attitude of self orientation. The, "Old Man" is the name given to the sinful disposition, attitude, nature.

We are all born with a human nature, the nature to be human (body, soul and spirit). We are also born with a sinful nature, the nature or inclination to sin, which is called, the Old Man, the Carnal Mind (mind of the flesh), the Double Mind. This attitude, which leans toward sin must be recognized by a believer as a corruption, which will never submit to God and will eventually lead the believer into rebellion and apostasy.

By an act of Divine grace, through faith, believers are cleansed from inner resistance to God, when we make full surrender. We must realize that we are resistant to God, and that we need Divine deliverance, and that God delivers us when we are ready to die to self orientation, self aggrandizement, selfishness.

Since the Old Man is not an actual person, but an attitude, we cannot be sought and captured by the Old Man. We fall victim to sinful propensity when we fail to follow Christ fully and we allow sin back into our lives.
To lose God's holiness is the result of deliberately rejecting God's rule, grace and power in our lives. We are not victims to an outside force but to our own self deception and self assertion.

Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
