God intended those...
dark places, hard places, lonely places,
Times of...
disappointment, pain, suffering, loss, poverty, sickness, rejection, struggle, failure
To be opportunities...
to be blessed, to draw closer to God, to be enlightened, to grow, to learn, to flourish, to shine, to be delivered, to be purified, to be transformed from darkness to light, to be conformed to the image of Christ, to be humbled, to be exalted, to be emboldened, to be comforted
But they were...
lost, no, they were viewed as curses from the devil, which therefore robbed you of the joy and love of Jesus and the victory of His Spirit.
You lost...
the power of God's presence at the time of trial,
the victories that you would have won in the future had you allowed God to equip, train and empower you.

Your murmuring, whining, crying, criticizing, moaning should have been praises, songs of victory and joy.
