11/29/21 DON'T MISS THE PROMISED REST

11/29/21 DON'T MISS THE PROMISED REST

There is a rest that comes with our conversion, but there is also a Promised Rest that comes at the time of our total commitment.
This is the Promised Rest that was foreshadowed in the Sabbath Rest and the Promised Land.
The Promised Rest comes with our full surrender to God and God's fullness of the Holy Spirit
.

There is a reason that the Spirit filled life, the life of Total Surrender is called the "Promised Rest."
It is the rest from internal struggle, internal upheaval, internal conflict.
It is rest from internal war with the "self" (Old Man, Carnal Mind, Double Mind).
It is rest from Fifth Column conflicts.
It is rest from Roman's Seven's, BODY OF DEATH
It is the ACTUAL rest which the Sabbath rest of the Old Testament was a TYPE.

We are not under obligation to keep the Seventh Day Rest.
The Seventh Day Rest was the preview of the Christian Rest from internal labors and human endeavor.
The Promised Rest is the Believer's Rest.

God revealed this truth through the writer of Hebrews. Read from Hebrews 3:7 to 4:11 concerning the REST God gives to His faithful children. Though it is separated into two different chapters, it is one continuous thought. I will give the passage and share thoughts (dlg note) along the way. This whole subject is in reference to the experience and life of Total Commitment (also known as Entire Sanctification). Don't be afraid of it. It doesn't make you a freak, it delivers you from being a "Two Hearted" freak a Double Minded spiritual freak.

Hebrews 3:7-4:11
7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

(dlg note 7-8) It is possible for Christians, who are saved from the bondage to sin and Satan to harden their hearts as Pharaoh hardened his heart in the Exodus and as the Hebrews hardened their hearts in the wilderness. They hardened their hearts against God and His leading through Moses.

9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

(dlg note 9) The Hebrews were delivered from slavery, but they were not willing to submit to the One Who delivered them. Getting out of Egypt was one thing, reaching and entering the Promised Land was a different story.

10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

(dlg note 10) The rebellion of the ancient Hebrews started with one rebellious thought and grew into a life of rebellion. God gave that generation of Hebrews a lifetime of opportunities, but they hardened themselves against God's rule. As a result, God was grieved with them for THEIR OWN RESPONSE TO HIM. Yes, God always knew they would harden their hearts, but God gave them opportunity to surrender, to trust, to obey.

To "not know" the way of God is to not approve the way of God; to not agree with the way of God; it is to resist, reject and rebel against the way of God. God did not make their damnable choice for them, but He was grieved with their choice. God was grieved, vexed, angry, displeased with them for having rebelled. Some people believe that God wills for men to be rebellious. If God chose for them to rebel, then God should have been angry with Himself, which is absurd. God did not choose for them to rebel or force them to rebel or deny them the ability to obey. IT WAS THEIR OWN CHOICE AND GOD WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT THEIR CHOICE.

God is Love, God is merciful, God is patient, God is kind, but after His grace and blessing have been rejected repeatedly and incessantly and unapologetically, there comes a time when God, in His judgment and justice cuts people off. BEWARE your ongoing resistance and rejection of God. To resist His goodness is to seek His justice.

11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)

(dlg note 11) God is angry with those who WILL NOT enter into His rest when invited and He expresses His determination that they will never enter.

12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

(dlg note 12) God not only invites and provides a way to enter His rest, as He referred to it, but He warns believers of the danger in not entering into His rest.

He begins His warning by telling where the rebellion comes from.
It is the dark, sinful nature within the person.
It is the "remains of sin," which continues to exist in the heart, inner man of the believer, after he is saved.
It is the Double Mind of unbelief.

The problem always comes back to the absence of faith. The failure to enter into the Promised Rest is the failure to believe God for complete deliverance. This failure to believe results in departing from God.

13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

(dlg note 13) God exhorts believers to call each other to this Promised Rest. The rejection of this rest will cause the hardened heart to harden even more. Hardening of the heart is not the result of light, but the evil effect of deception. Satan deceives people into rejecting the Promised Rest.

14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

(dlg note 14) Entering into the Promised Rest is a natural and normal step in the life of a believer. Once a person receives Christ, becomes a partaker of Christ, then that person is able to continue to remain faithful, hold fast, continue in the faith, continue in the Lord, continue in grace, abide in the Vine and that person will be enabled to hold fast throughout his Christian experience, throughout his earthly life. Being a partaker of Christ is dependent on being faithful, remaining steadfast unto the end; and it should extend from conversion to departure of the spirit from the body..

15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

(dlg note 15) God repeats His charge, so as to highlight the importance. TODAY, IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS SOME DID IN THE WILDERNESS WHEN THEY PROVOKED GOD. Choosing not to move into the Promised Rest provokes God to judgment and wrath.

16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

(dlg note 16) The passage can be correctly translated, saying that all but a few provoked God and failed to go into the Promised Land. This indicates that it is possible that a great number who start for the Promised Rest don't make it. Very sobering passage.

17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

(dlg note 17) God makes it clear as to who it was that grieved Him and they were not allowed to inherit the promise of God. God was vexed with those who sinned against God through faithlessness and disobedience.

18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

(dlg note 18) God repeats His judgment, with emphasis on their disbelief.

19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

(dlg note 19) The sin of disbelieving God, the sin of unbelief disqualifies a person from entering into the Promised Rest, just as it disqualified the Hebrews from entering into the Promised Land.

Hebrews 4:1-11
1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

(dlg note 1) God focuses on the need of believers to fear (exercise watchful care) concerning the possibility of not entering into the Promised Rest. Believers who sin, who do not trust, who do not focus on the Promised Rest may come short of it.

2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

(dlg note 2) Just as the Hebrews, who were delivered from Egypt, failed to enter the Promised Land, so too can New Testament believers fail to enter into the Promised Rest, if they do not mix faith with the word preached concerning God's full deliverance. In order for the redemptive work of God to be effectual, it must be received and believed. There is no salvation without Divine intervention, such as death and resurrection of Christ. But the death and resurrection of Christ does not save until the lost believes the message.

The Promised Rest is part of the redemptive work and it requires the believer to accept, believe that Christ delivers from the works of the flesh, from the internal struggle with the Old Man.

3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

(dlg note 3) This passage is not simply saying that the Promised Rest is our entrance into heaven. Sometimes the fulfillment of a prophecy includes more than one event. The second coming of Christ includes the Rapture and His return. The Promised Rest includes the deeper spiritual life now and heaven after we die. This passage actually says that we enter that Promised Rest, here and now.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10
(9) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
(10) But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

(dlg note 4-5) God hinted at this Promised Rest with the Seventh Day Rest and the Land of Promise to Israel.

6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

(dlg note 6) It is true that the first families of the Bible did not enter into this Divine Rest and the Children of Israel did not enter into the spiritual Promised Land. Yet God has known it and declared that His people would enter into a Promised Rest. But remember, this is not strictly the promise of heaven (though there is a promise of heaven).

7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

(dlg note 7) Neither was the Promised Rest going to be found in the days of King David or during the years of Israel's kingdom.

8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

(dlg note 8 ) The Promised Rest is the rest of God, the rest of Jesus. It is God, the Father and God the Son that gives the Promised Rest, in these days.

9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

(dlg note 9) Salvation is the gift of God to the lost person, but Promised Rest is God's gift to the believer. It is a rest from internal struggles with carnality, turmoil, fear, doubt, disobedience, self confidence, pride.

10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

(dlg note 10) Trusting the flesh, distrusting the Spirit of God is the plague of the carnal Christian. When a believer takes God at His word to save Him from trusting the arm of flesh, then the Christian knows what it is to truly rest in Jesus and His finished work of salvation.

11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

(dlg note 11) Rather than spend our energy trying to please God with our own carnal works and our own earthly wisdom, we begin to trust in Jesus to deliver us and give us inner peace, joy, satisfaction, confidence. We still spend energy, but it is spent in the Spirit. There is a peace, a fulfillment, an accomplishment when our energy is spent on faith in Christ, rather than dependence on our own puny works futility.

11/29/21 THE ANSWER IS SO SIMPLE

11/29/21 THE ANSWER IS SO SIMPLE

I know the answer, even when I ask this question: "How can that believer not have peace, not have confidence, not have assurance, not have joy in the midst of his troubles and in the face of his enemy?

How can they not have that abiding, overcoming, courageous faith that God has promised?"

The answer is, simply stated, that God does not give the Promised Rest to anyone who does not believe that God gives them the Promised Rest.

The Promised Rest does not come to the person who is focused on the flesh, leaning on the flesh, fearing the flesh, longing for the flesh, gratifying the flesh, pampering the flesh, walking in the flesh.

The Promised Rest is given to God's children who are living by faith, walking in the Spirit, rejoicing in the Lord.

I am hoping to post more about God's Promised Rest for believers very soon. The Promised Rest is related to Death to the Old Man, the confidence of Single Mindedness (which replaces the torment of Double Mindedness), it allows the peace of God that passes understanding to RULE (referee) in the heart, keeping the heart and mind in Christ Jesus, as we bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

I watch Christians wander in and out of the joy, peace, confidence, love, victory and wonder why they won't simply die to self and enter into the Promised Rest that God promised to them. But God also has declared that He will not allow those with fear, those with doubt, those who disobey, to enter into His blessed Promised Rest.

Entering into the Promised Rest for a believer is received in the same way that a lost person enters into salvation. TRUST JESUS.

11/29/21 DON'T LET PRIDE CHOOSE YOUR DESTINATION

11/29/21 DON'T LET PRIDE CHOOSE YOUR DESTINATION

Pretty simple. When you start for a specific destination, but then you make a wrong turn: Stop, Turn Around, Get Back On Track.

Or, spiritually, Stop, Repent, Trust and Follow Christ.

11/28/21 THE KING JESUS VERSION OF SALVATION

11/28/21 THE KING JESUS VERSION OF SALVATION

I believe in the King Jesus version of salvation.

No one is allowed to privately interpret or translate God's work of grace or word of truth to the world.

To be God's messengers, God's epistle, God's ambassador, we must communicate the Person, nature, light of Jesus as given in His word and by His Spirit.

No one is allowed to change His truth for their own advantage or pleasure.

This is why we should know His word and follow His Spirit.

11/27/21 WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT

11/27/21 WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT

We need the Holy Spirit to convict us of sin.
We need the Holy Spirit to convince us of salvation.
We need the Holy Spirit to call us to faith in Christ.
We need the Holy Spirit to convert us through new birth.
We need the Holy Spirit to counsel (lead and teach) us.
We need the Holy Spirit to cleanse us from all sin (hands and heart).
We need the Holy Spirit to conform us to the image of Jesus.

11/27/21 SONG... NOTHING BETWEEN MY SOUL AND THE SAVIOR

11/27/21 SONG... NOTHING BETWEEN MY SOUL AND THE SAVIOR

A great song that states clearly the Christian desire to be saved from all sin, sinful nature as well as sinful actions.

SINS are what we do (word, thought and deed).
SIN is what we have by nature (inherited from Adam).
God saves us from all sin, sins committed (willful disobedience to the known law of God) and sin nature, inherited from Adam.

The words of this song represent the desire of the believer who is making total surrender, full commitment, also known as death to self, crucifixion of the Old Man, deliverance from the Double Mind.
This is a great song, prayer, commitment, motto.

NOTHING BETWEEN
Charles Albert Tindly
1905

1 Nothing between my soul and the Savior,
Naught of this world's delusive dream:
I have renounced all sinful pleasure-
Jesus is mine! There's nothing between.

Refrain:
Nothing between my soul and the Savior,
So that His blessed face may be seen;
Nothing preventing the least of His favor:
Keep the way clear! Let nothing between.

2 Nothing between, like worldly pleasure:
Habits of life, though harmless they seem,
Must not my heart from Him ever sever-
He is my all! There's nothing between. [Refrain]

3 Nothing between, like pride or station:
Self or friends shall not intervene;
Though it may cost me much tribulation,
I am resolved! There's nothing between. [Refrain]

4 Nothing between, e'en many hard trials,
Though the whole world against me convene;
Watching with prayer and much self denial-
Triumph at last, with nothing between! [Refrain]

11/27/21 STRAIGHTENING PICTURE WHILE HOUSE BURNS TO GROUND

11/27/21 STRAIGHTENING PICTURE WHILE HOUSE BURNS TO GROUND

Maintenance of vehicles, houses, tools, weapons, health, economics: ESSENTIAL.

Spiritual life, eh, not so much. (YAWN)

11/27/21 THEY KEEP WATCH OVER YOUR SOUL

11/27/21 THEY KEEP WATCH OVER YOUR SOUL

I have thought about the difficulties and heartaches that go with working in a children's hospital or the constant sorrow of working in hospice. I realize there is a need and there is also an opportunity to help other people. Still, the burden would be so heavy.

Pastors celebrate the victories, joys, Divine interventions that their people experience. But we also bear the burdens and suffer the sorrows of our people, even when they are oblivious to their own tragic circumstances. The Bible calls this pastoral care, "keeping watch for their souls." It is sometimes a "death watch," as the parishioner is being led to slaughter and will not heed the cry to, "Look and live."

God appoints shepherds to watch over the souls and lives of others. We see the inevitable train wreck for the individuals and families who reject, ignore, resist the Divine guidance, which God provides for them through His shepherds. While parishioners are blind to their own condition and destiny, pastors preach, teach, counsel, pray for, plead for and fight for folks who are drifting, wandering, rebelling.

This is why God instructs Christians,
Hebrews 13:17
"17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you."

A Biblical pastor does not simply give good advice, personal opinion but he speaks words of knowledge and words of wisdom because he is speaking the word of God and he is delivering words of Divine wisdom.

Hebrews 13:7
7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

Colossians 1:9-11
9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

Colossians 1:28-29
28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

Remember, God is concerned with the DETAILS of your life, not simply the generalities. If you don't have a pastor that you trust with the details, you either need to re-evaluate your understanding of your pastor or you need a new pastor.

11/27/21 LIFE IS BUT A VAPOR

11/27/21 LIFE IS BUT A VAPOR

As it often happens, I started writing this post a few days ago but other responsibilities interrupted. These thoughts came to me after hearing that a loved one had passed away. How sad that folks caused her so much grief for so many years. The pain and suffering heaped on her by selfish people she loved, robbed her of years of joy, peace, love.

Whether it is you or another person, life is fragile and short lived. Don't spend your time, energy, opportunities burdening or bruising other people.

There are people who love you. Don't do or say things that burden or bruise them. They may be gone soon. Don't be the cause of them suffering. They may not reveal the great pain you are causing them, while you callously dance through life focused on self.

The other side of this problem is that you could spend your life being a pain to people and leave a legacy of dark and painful memories with those you mistreated.

A good dose of salvation will save you from being the cause of other people's suffering.

11/26/21 EXPECT THE EXCEPTIONAL

11/26/21 EXPECT THE EXCEPTIONAL

The presence and work of God, when believers gather, should never be taken for granted or seen as something that we have created. An audience with the King is always remarkable and awesome whether personally or corporately.

But we should understand that the blessing and favor of God's loving, kind, gracious presence is bestowed on a gathering of His children when they come together humbly, submissively, thankfully, expectantly. Individuals can experience the miraculous presence of God, even when other folks in a gathering are oblivious. It is a gift of God when He draws near to us. Remember, He promised to draw near to those who draw near to Him. How much more awesome when we experience the beneficent presence of God as a family of believers.

Though we should always recognize a blessed encounter with God and His goodness as a special Divine gift we should live in such a way that the extraordinary becomes the expected. We must not allow anything to break a living, loving relationship with God. Not only will we lose the personal encounter, we will not realize the Divine presence in a group. When God prepares a love feast with His children, don't be the enemy of God's children or you will not even recognize the heavenly banquet you are missing.

With that being said, feasting with the King should not be a rare event, though it should always be a precious experience. Not only should individuals live in constant communion with God, each believer in a congregation should live in spiritual unity with one another and walk in loving submission to God. Remember, God's plan for us is to ABIDE in Him.

Think about the manifold blessings and advantages of an entire congregation being available to Divine manifestations of love and light along with the holiness and wholeness that comes from His presence: what it would mean to the children and youth of the church, what would it mean to those in the church with heavy burdens and those facing exceedingly great trials. Think what it would mean to the backsliders and to a watching world.

Don't take Divine presence for granted, but live in such a way that you expect the exceptional when your church gathers.

11/26/21 A DAY OF THANKSGIVING

11/26/21 A DAY OF THANKSGIVING

After a great day of sharing faith, fellowship, food and fun we said good night to friends and fellow travelers, Martha Gould, brother Wade and I sat around the campfire and relived the day.

When our church gathers it is like having our own camp with seniors, children, marrieds, singles.

Lots of love, fun, music and life changing truth.

Here are a few snapshots of our campfire and a short video to wrap up the day.

We had 24 folks from 7 households. This included 10 young people.

Thank you Father, Son and Holy Spirit and thank you to our loving congregation.

11/25/21 POWER TO DELIVER, KEEP AND ADVANCE US

11/25/21 POWER TO DELIVER, KEEP AND ADVANCE US

Not only does God forgive, regenerate, transform us at salvation and not only does He deliver us from our inward corruption when He fills us with His Holy Spirit, He also gives us victory over our multiplied outward enemies as we walk in the Spirit and the liberty of a heart purity.

Entering the Promised Land does not deliver us from being tempted, but it does eliminate the fifth column of the Double Mind and enlightens us to the wiles of the wicked one and empowers us for spiritual service.

11/24/21 GOD GIVES CLEAN HANDS AND A PURE HEART TO "WHOSOEVER WILL" BELIEVE AND RECEIVE

11/24/21 GOD GIVES CLEAN HANDS AND A PURE HEART TO "WHOSOEVER WILL" BELIEVE AND RECEIVE

Sadly, relatively few of those who profess full salvation appear to be conformed to the image of Jesus.
Happily, some of those who have been taught to deny God's full salvation choose to be Biblical and live fully consecrated lives anyway.

Regardless of what you have been taught, you should,
Seek the Lord with your whole heart,
Hunger and Thirst after righteousness,
Follow fully in Jesus' steps.

These are Biblical directives to God's people. Only the devil would call obedience to God, "self righteous legalism."

The advantage in knowing the great truth is as you receive and walk in the light that transforms you into the likeness of Jesus, you will receive greater light and enabling grace to walk in more light.

11/24/21 (a closer look at) I AM CAMPING IN CANAAN'S LAND and VICTORY IN JESUS

11/24/21 (a closer look at) I AM CAMPING IN CANAAN'S LAND and VICTORY IN JESUS

I AM CAMPING IN CANAAN'S LAND

A closer look at this great song, which recognizes the victories God promised to those who leave the land of Egypt (sin) and cross from the wilderness journey into the Promised Land of Christian victory and spiritual fulfillment.

People confuse the life of victory, which God promised to those who follow Christ fully, with life in heaven. The Promised Land in the Old Testament does not represent heaven. It represents the victorious and established life of a follower of Christ, beyond their Wilderness wanderings. The struggles that a converted person has with his own inner rebellion, doubt, fear and attachments to the world are conquered by those who trust Christ for full deliverance by the infilling and indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The Entirely Sanctified life is as much of a mystery to the saved person as the saved life is to the unsaved person.

But just as a sinner enters into eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ, so the believer enters into the life of perfect love, fullness of joy, undiluted confidence.

Read the lives of outstanding, victorious Christians. They talk about a time in their Christian life that they came to a point of Total Commitment, Full Surrender, Death to Self.

They may use different terms but they acknowledge a definite and complete consecration. This agrees with the Biblical directive to Surrender All and trust God fully for the enduement of Holy Spirit power and the Holy Spirits purifying the heart of the believer, who has waited for the fullness of the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. The evidence of a fully surrendered heart is purity, perfect love and persevering power. Remember, the plan of God was not that the Children of Israel should stay in the wilderness. God's plan was for Israel to reach and settle into the Promised Land. Likewise, God is not simply interested in getting a person to leave sin behind, He intends for the believer to enter into a life of victory and growth and peace and joy and love, far beyond the struggles of the wilderness journey of Carnal Christianity.

I AM CAMPING IN CANAAN'S LAND
E. M. Bartlett (he also wrote, VICTORY IN JESUS)

1 I have left the land of bondage with it's earthly treasures
I've journeyed to the place where there is love on every hand
I've exchanged the land of heartaches for the land of pleasure
I'm camping, I'm camping, in Canaan's happy land

REFRAIN
Every day I'm camping (camping) in the land of Canaan (Canaan)
And in rapture I survey it's wondrous beauty grand (Oh, Glory)
Glory, hallelujah (I have) found the land of promise
(And I'm) camping, I'm camping, in Canaan's happy land

2 Out of Egypt I have traveled through the darkness dreary
Far over hills and valleys and across the desert sands
Thoughts of land that's safe and homeward I shall not go weary
I'm camping, I'm camping, in Canaan's happy land

3 Yes I've reached the land of promise with the saints of glory
My journey ended in a place so lovely and so grand
I've been led by Jesus to this blessed land of story
I'm camping, I'm camping, in Canaan's happy land

VICTORY IN JESUS
1 I heard an old, old story,
How a Savior came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning,
Of His precious blood's atoning,
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory.

Chorus
O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.

2 I heard about His healing,
Of His cleansing pow'r revealing.
How He made the lame to walk again
And caused the blind to see;
And then I cried, "Dear Jesus,
Come and heal my broken spirit,"
And somehow Jesus came and bro't
To me the victory.

3 I heard about a mansion
He has built for me in glory.
And I heard about the streets of gold
Beyond the crystal sea;
About the angels singing,
And the old redemption story,
And some sweet day I'll sing up there
The song of victory.

11/24/21 A GIFT FOR EVERY NEED

11/24/21 A GIFT FOR EVERY NEED

God is the Giver of every good and perfect gift.

He gives us everything we need for life and godliness.

Not just for essentials but for exceptionalism.

So says His word.
PRAISE THE LORD.

If you don't know it, it isn't His fault.

11/24/21 YOUR VIEW REVEALS MUCH ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

11/24/21 YOUR VIEW REVEALS MUCH ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

THE ORIGIN
The idea of holiness is either Divine or demonic.
The idea of being holy is either Divine or demonic.
The idea of living a holy life (presently) is either Divine or demonic.
The idea of making sinful people holy (in this life) is either Divine or demonic.
The idea of referring to Christians as holy is either Divine or demonic.
The idea of perfecting saved people in holiness (during this life) is either Divine or demonic.
The idea of designating individuals as holy is either Divine or demonic.

MISUSE
Yes, I realize the possibility of misunderstanding, misusing and misappropriating the words "holiness and holy," but the question has to do with the origin of holiness and holy.

BEWARE THE TRAP
Then again,
The idea of despising holiness is either Divine or demonic.
The idea of denying God's power to make believers holy is either Divine or demonic.

Basic definition of holy:
Separated from sin,
Separated to God,

BASIC PRINCIPLES
Only God is inherently holy.
God's salvation through the sacrificial and atoning work of Christ saves sinful people from being sinful to being holy.

DIVINE WORK
Holiness, in faithful followers of Christ, is both the redeemed and transformed condition of the heart and a life fully dedicated to trusting and obeying Christ.
Holiness is not the result of human accomplishment, but it is the accomplishment of Divine grace, received by faith.

GOD'S PLAN
God calls us to holiness.
God requires holiness of heart and life for eternal salvation.
God commands us to be holy, even as He is holy.
God makes believers holy through His almighty, redemptive work, through the His word, His Son and His Holy Spirit.

THESE ARE BIBLICAL TRUTHS.

11/23/21 SAFELY SHELTERED

11/23/21 SAFELY SHELTERED

Here is another great old song, which addresses Total Commitment.

Yes, there is a purifying that a person can only trust God for, after he is saved, because he doesn't even realize his own need for heart purity until he is saved from the guilt of the sins he has willfully committed.

The purifying, which a Christian needs, is not a purification that the unsaved can even comprehend.

Justification includes forgiveness, cleansing for all sins in a persons life at the time of repentance.It does not include the inherited pollution (the Old Man, the Carnal Mind, Double Mindedness, the Flesh).

We are guilty for sins committed, we are not guilty for SIN inherited. Still, we are in need of purification and deliverance from the sinful nature.

This speaks of an assurance that comes to those who trust Christ fully to deliver them from every enemy of the soul.
God not only saves us from the guilt and shame of sins in the past, He saves His people from the pollution and tyranny of inherited sin nature.
This gives us joy unspeakable and full of glory, and unfettered faith, and overcoming confidence.
It removes the inner hindrances to a life of godliness.
This is what gives us victory over ALL SIN.
This is what makes us MORE than conquerors.

This purifying of the heart comes from the infilling and fullness of the Holy Spirit. It is also called, "The fullness of the blessing."

Romans 15:29
"And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ."

SAFELY SHELTERED
by Haldor Lillenas

1 Storms of life may beat around me,
Hidden dangers may surround me,
But no evil shall confound me
In the everlasting arms.

Refrain:
Safely sheltered in the Rock of Ages,
Tho’ the tempest round about me rages;
Shielded from all fear and harm
In the everlasting arms.

2 In the riven Rock I’m hiding,
In the Lord of hosts confiding;
Safely He my soul is guiding
By His everlasting arms. [Refrain]

3 How can I be sad and weary,
Or my days be dark and dreary,
Flooded by His sunlight cheery,
In His everlasting arms. [Refrain]

4 Voices of the world are calling,
Dangers may be fierce, appalling,
But I shall be kept from falling
By His everlasting arms. [Refrain]

11/23/21 WAKE UP RIP; IT IS UPON US

Socialist and Communist infiltration of Schools, Unions, Courts, FBI, CIA, Military, Legislatures, Executive branches started in late 1800s, with the intent of destroying Biblical, family and American culture, beliefs, economy, government.

NOW, do you understand why you have seen so much chaos and anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-family activity in government and public life? In fact, Socialists and Communists have made multiple attempts to become POTUS since 1892. Our present maelstrom of immorality did not happen overnight. It has been happening constantly for over a hundred years and it has finally saturated American thinking, primarily due to the unbridled efforts of far left academics and public education. The success is also due to the public rejection of Christianity and the failure of the "Christian" community to support the moral, ethical and family standards presented in the Holy Bible.

FAITH IS REQUIRED

11/22/21 A COMMON MISCONCEPTION

11/22/21 A COMMON MISCONCEPTION

The Promise(d) Land of the Bible is not heaven, though I think most Christians think it is and most of the Christian songs people sing about The Promise(d) Land (and Jordan River) seem to indicate that crossing Jordan and entering the Promised Land is about dying and going to heaven. BUT IT ISN'T.

Israel's exodus from Egypt (which represents leaving the life of sin), crossing of the Red Sea (which represents the Christian conversion) and journey to the Promised(d) Land or Canaan Land, the land that God promised to Abraham and the Children of Israel (which represents the initial steps of salvation). To leave Egypt (sin) and cross the Red Sea (exit from sin and enter into deliverance from sin) leads obedient believers to enter Canaan Land (the life of spiritual abiding, settlement).

When God gives us the opportunity to enter into the established life of victory, we can either enter the Land of Promise (heart purity and deliverance from the sin nature) at Kadesh Barnea (soon after leaving Egypt) or we can wander in the wilderness and eventually enter the Spirit filled life by crossing Jordan, OR we can die in the wilderness (which represents the carnal Christian struggle and internal, spiritual battle), never reaching the Promise(d) Land of full deliverance from sins and sin, never entering into the Promise(d) life of Milk and Honey, the land of Clean Hands AND a PURE HEART.

Remember, godliness is the state of being being conformed to the image of God. Godliness is evidenced by what we DO and what we ARE. Godliness has the promise of the LIFE THAT NOW IS and that which is to come. God intends for, and provides for Christians to live godly, spotless, blameless lives now, in this present evil world. The promise of eternal life is fulfilled in those who are not only Born of God, but those who are Crucified with Christ and dead to this world. The Promise(d) Land is the life of heart purity, here and now.

One song that got this imagery right was, "Dwelling In Beulah Land" (not to be confused with the song, "Sweet Beulah Land," which mistakenly interprets the Biblical imagery of the Promise(d) Land with heaven). I like the song, "Sweet Beulah Land," but it is more accurate to exchange "Heaven's Land" for Beulah Land.

Beulah Land was the name given to the promised habitation for Israel (Isaiah 62:4) and conveys the idea of marriage between God and His people, rather than heaven. Therefore Beulah Land, The Promise(d) Land and Canaan Land are used interchangeably to represent the victorious, intimate relationship and life of fully dedicated followers of God.

As an Old Testament type or prefiguring of Christian experience, these names represent the Spirit filled life of the Entirely Sanctified believer (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24). Entire Sanctification purifies the heart of the saved (Justified) person, with the fullness of the Holy Spirit, in order for the believer to have the deep settled peace, single eyed commitment and perfect love, which God wants His people to enjoy.

As with the children of Israel who came out of Egypt and did not enter the Promised Land when they had the opportunity, so it is that Christian people are brought out of the life of sin and God leads them to the fullness of the Holy Spirit. However, for various reasons, believers often fail or refuse to make full surrender, and they fail to trust Christ fully for His purifying work of grace.

The Children of Israel could have entered their Promise(d) Land early, when they arrived at Kadesh Barnea, but they believed the ten negative spies (naysayers) and chose not to enter. After their refusal to enter, they continued to disbelieve and disobey God for the next 40 years, resulting in God not allowing them to enter the Promise(d) Land. God did not fail, but rather they chose to disobey God. God leads Christians today to enter into and to live a life of obedience, holiness and perfect love, but people choose to believe the 10 spies (false witnesses) who teach against the Spirit filled life of victory over sin. Through false witnesses, the devil promotes disbelief and disobedience, thus robbing people of the grace to quit sinning, the ability to be made holy and be perfect in love. They therefore refuse to enter into the Promise(d) Land, the Land of Canaan, Beulah Land, and many of them will ultimately go back into sin and rebellion, thus missing heaven.

Think about the words of these songs, which correctly understand that deliverance from sin is in this life, for the fully dedicated follower of Christ.

Here are the Lyrics to three songs, which recognize that The Promise(d), Beulah Land and Canaan Land represent the Sanctified, victorious life of total commitment and The Holy Spirit's fullness. It would do you well to read and think about the level and value of life lived in the Spirit, which is the subject of these three songs.

DWELLING IN BEULAH LAND
1
Far away the noise of strife upon my ear is falling;
Then I know the sins of earth beset on every hand;
Doubt and fear and things of earth in vain to me are calling;
None of these shall move me from Beulah Land.
Refrain:
I’m living on the mountain, underneath a cloudless sky,
I’m drinking at the fountain that never shall run dry;
Oh, yes! I’m feasting on the manna from a bountiful supply,
For I am dwelling in Beulah Land.
2
Far below the storm of doubt upon the world is beating,
Sons of men in battle long the enemy withstand;
Safe am I within the castle of God’s Word retreating;
Nothing then can reach me—’tis Beulah Land.
3
Let the stormy breezes blow, their cry cannot alarm me;
I am safely sheltered here, protected by God’s hand;
Here the sun is always shining, here there’s naught can harm me;
I am safe forever in Beulah Land.
4
Viewing here the works of God, I sink in contemplation;
Hearing now His blessed voice, I see the way He planned;
Dwelling in the Spirit, here I learn of full salvation;
Gladly will I tarry in Beulah Land.

LIVING IN CANAAN NOW
1
Egypt was once my home, I was a slave
Helpless in sin did roam, love-light did crave,
But when I looked up to heaven's dome Christ came to save,
I'm living in Canaan now
Refrain:
Living on Canaan's side, Egypt behind
Crossed over Jordan wide, gladness to find
My soul is satisfied, no longer blind
Living with Jesus up in Canaan right now
2
Satan may have you bound with fetters strong,
Look up to higher ground it'will not be long
Till Christ the Saviour your soul has found
You'll sing this song,
I'm living in Canaan now
Refrain:
Living on Canaan's side, Egypt behind
Crossed over Jordan wide, gladness to find
My soul is satisfied, no longer blind
Living with Jesus up in Canaan right now
3
Living on Canaan's side, Egypt behind
Crossed over Jordan wide, gladness to find
My soul is satisfied...,
(My soul is satisfied!)
Living with Jesus up in Canaan right now!

LIVING IN CANAAN LAND
1
I’ve left the land of Egypt with its bondage drear,
I’ve crossed the mighty Red sea with my Lord so dear,
And now the songs of Beulah fill my heart with cheer,
For I’m living in Canaan land.
Refrain:
I’m living in Canaan, living in Canaan,
I am living in Canaan land;
The joy-bells are ringing, and with rapture I’m singing,
For I’m living in Canaan land.
2
I wander not in desert or on burning sand,
But thru the smiling meadows of a better land;
For God is ever leading me by His right hand,
I am living in Canaan land. [Refrain]
3
My sustenance is not the food that once was mine,
On manna of the wilderness I can not dine,
I’m feeding on the honey and the milk and wine,
For I’m living in Canaan land. [Refrain]
4
I’m drinking of a fountain that cannot run dry,
Redeemed thru grace divine and purified am I,
I’m singing while the golden hours are passing by,
For I’m living in Canaan land. [Refrain]1
