10/19/21 DISTRACTIONS CAN BE DEADLY
How long do you need to be distracted when dealing with a snake? an alligator? when driving a vehicle at high speed or in heavy traffic? when using a chain saw?
If the situation is less intense, then the immediacy of danger is not as apparently great. However, the less dangerous a distraction seems, the longer we will be distracted. But remember, a distraction causes a person to lose his focus, for a moment, then for a little while, then for an extended period of time, until finally the distracted one realizes that his failure to focus on the important issues of life has placed him in the path of disaster. Distraction is dangerous in the immediate and in the distant.
Not all distractions are obviously dangerous.
Sometimes the distractions seem like harmless interruptions. But it is often the simple, the reasonable distractions that rob us of the real treasures.
Distractions lead to distractions that lead to other distractions that lead to a life of being distracted from God. You don't have the luxury of being distracted by anything for any period of time.
