10/03/21 GUARD GOD'S GIFTS

10/03/21 GUARD GOD'S GIFTS

Don't let your blessings become your burdens or your curses.

We all have numerous gifts from God in our lives, which bring us great happiness, excitement, comfort and satisfaction. It might be work, recreation, art, athletics, academics, family, friends, home, travel, health, pleasures. God gives us these things to bless us, make our journey fulfilling and productive.

But sometimes we allow our blessings to dominate our desire, focus, time, affection, energy, relationships. We allow our blessings to become our burden or even our curse.

(You may want to skip my list of blessings. I only give it to make a point.)

I have been more than abundantly blessed.
I was born in America, raised in a stable family unit, graduated from Bible college, lived in 8 states, visited 7 countries.
I have enjoyed sports (football, softball, basketball, soccer, racquetball, volleyball, pickle ball, swimming, fishing, kayaking, boating, yard tennis, surfing, skim boarding, weight training).
And the list goes on.

However, God gave me these things to make my journey better. He did not intend for me to allow anything or anyone to replace, crowd out, overshadow or diminish my relationship with Him.

Be careful the love, attention, focus, time, energy you give to anything or anyone other than God.

Misplaced affection, service, subjection is idolatry.
