09/16/21 BEING A CHRISTIAN IS A PRESENT REALITY
Being a Christian is more than just the head knowledge that there is a God (even the devil believes in the existence of God); more than an intellectual or emotional acceptance that the God of the Bible, the death and resurrection of Christ is factual.
It takes faith, living faith, working faith, trust, surrender and dependence on God, His word, His work, to be a Christian.
It takes more than a "one and done" faith that comes and goes.
It takes more than an occasional faithfulness.
It takes more than a first step in the past.
Being a Christian is a present, current, living, trusting, loving relationship with God, through Jesus.
We ARE saved by faith, not simply WE WERE saved by faith.
We ARE children of God by faith, not simply BECAME children of God by faith.
We are BORN OF GOD, not simply WE WERE BORN of God.
Being a Christian is:
TAKING A WALK with God,
TAKING A STAND against sin and
SITTING TOGETHER with Him and His children in heavenly places.
Being a Christian has to do with DOING AND BEING. It is God's work in us that enables us "...to will and do His good pleasure."
This is why God tells us to make our calling and election sure. His
faithfulness is not in question, but our faithfulness is a variable.
