06/12/21 KEEP GROWING AND GOING FORWARD

06/12/21 KEEP GROWING AND GOING FORWARD

Don't think that over 1500 years of diabolic false doctrine was corrected by any one reformer or even a stream of brilliant, well meaning Christian theologians or hundreds of years rediscovering Bible truth.

God's word never changed but Satan and evil workers have suppressed, hidden and twisted God's truth since the days of the Jesus. "Reformation" and "back to the Bible" movements have been initiated and led by scholarly and godly men since before Luther, but no single individual or movement has ever grasped or commanded the whole council of God.

Great truths have been rediscovered and the the meaning of Divine revelation has been articulated for over five hundred of years of Biblical research. Yet people make the mistake of thinking that the work of Reformed and Evangelical Theologians restored the faith, which was "once for all delivered to the saints." We need to be at least as eager to rediscover God's truth and enlightenment as the Christian scholars of the past. But, just as those before us, none of us will grasp all of truth perfectly.

If a person lost his memory, and then he remembered his name was Adam, would it be reasonable if "Adam" did not try or hope to recover more of his memory? Of course not. Neither should Christians be satisfied with the limited rediscoveries of any previous individual or movement. Not only have great Christian theologians, since the Reformation not grasped everything, they were often in error concerning the things they did study. God led men out of the teachings of the RCC and God has led men beyond the teachings of Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Arminius, Fox, Wesley and others. Sometimes it means moving forward and sometimes it means moving laterally, and in some cases it means moving back to a Biblical understanding, from errant beliefs and behavior.

This is not a call to new and innovative beliefs. It is a call to allow God to enlighten, teach and move you forward in His unchanging word.
