01/04/21 WE DON'T REALLY KNOW
Folks often boast about what they will do if confronted by a violent person.
But no one actually knows.
Better be trusting God.
For one thing, no one knows what their circumstances or opportunities will be, until it happens. Also, God may intervene before they put their plan into action. Then again, God may leave you to your plan, and it could go bad.
I have known folks who had great plans, only to have them backfire, or God intervened and saved them from a lifetime of heartache and suffering.
I have known people who just turned it over to God, and God saved them miraculously.
How about the numbers of people who planned on using force and they were unable to use that force.
How about those who have their guns taken away (by surprise, stealth, speed, power) and then their own gun used against them.
I don't know what I would do.
I know what I have done.
I know what I hope to do.
I know I want God to be pleased with what I do.
I know I trust Him right now.
Don't count on God as a back up. If God is your back up then God is not your protector, your deliverer.
God is good and often steps into our dangerous situations to help in time of need. But it is better to live in total surrender and trust in Him.
As Christians, we live by New Testament standards and directives, not the Old Testament directives given to Israel. We need to know what the New Testament says about personal violence and personal faith in time of trouble.
You are right. Folks who do not understand or believe in the actual presence, plan and protection of God in their lives think that we are talking about simply surrendering to the mad dogs as they attack and ravage our families. God's leading may not save our physical lives, but it will accomplish His purposes.
