05/10/21 NOT ALL INFORMATION IS OF THE SAME VALUE

05/10/21 NOT ALL INFORMATION IS OF THE SAME VALUE

I don't build my beliefs on the doctrines of men, since those doctrines are subject to error, corruption, misinterpretation, cultural, regional and chronological constrictions. Likewise, private interpretation of the Bible can suffer the same liabilities.

However, the word of God does not change, the word of God is not subject to changing views. The word of God is eternal. Our problem is not that we do not have the word of God available or that the word of God is unknowable. Our problem is making certain that we personally have access to the true and written word of God (that which is historically, linguistically verifiable) and that our translations are faithful to the original revelation, the cultural and linguistic norms of the time in which they were written.

While the Bible is the Divine revelation of God, it is written for the understanding of humans. There are rules and standards that must be followed in order to properly translate any document. These rules also apply to God's word. This does not reduce the word of God to a mere human literary work. But such translation disciplines do ensure the integrity of the document and authenticates its authenticity and genuineness.

Such discipline and integrity concerning mere human documents is less trustworthy. We may know what Augustine said about some writers, with whom he agreed or disagreed, but our records do not always report both sides of a human disagreement or conversation. Human records are incomplete and lack the integrity of Divine revelation.

This is why I build my beliefs and arguments on the revealed word of God. There is nothing hidden or lost or corrupted, which we should know and understand. Human records are influenced and established by partisanship. The history, message and integrity of the Bible has been maintained by God Himself. There is no ancient historical writing that is more verifiable and better documented than the Holy Bible.
